Strong family-owned business since 1936
The Persano adventure started in 1936, when Dr. Helbig, German representative of a German Company, started Persano Cosmetics in Copenhagen. His business specialized in medicinal salves, shampoo, creams and toothpaste. In 1944, pharmacist Ib Overgaard joined the company and later took over management and ownership when Dr. Helbig passed away in 1949. The Overgaard Family has owned the Persano Group ever since.

British inspiration
In 1952, the Englishman, Ralph G. Harry, was affiliated with Persano Group. He was one of the leading chemists in the world specializing in cosmetics and, even today, his research in the development and production of cosmetics is recognized all over the world. The collaboration with Ralph G. Harry lasted for 30 years and gave Persano a unique foundation for success.

Production relocated to North Zealand
In 1961, Persano's success outpaced the capacity of the factory in Copenhagen, and the company moved to new facilities in Blistrup, North Zealand, where the headquarters and primary production are now located. This site has been expanded several times since and, today, the persano Group has 15,000 square meters of state-of-the-art, high-tech production facilities at its disposal.

Generational change
In 1986, the brothers Jan and Henrik Overgaard took over the company from their father. This kicked off a series of initiatives that accelerated the company's positive development. The packaging company Persano Plast was founded and, today, it develops and produces most of the packaging for Persano Group.

New business area and cutting-edge production facilities
In 2002, the Persano Group took over Propharma A/S, which is now a rapidly growing producer of food supplements, medical equipment, pharmaceutical and oral hygiene products. Propharma has modern facilities for both liquid and dry production at disposal and supplies products in a large variety of packagings.
